Planning
Here are a few shots of when we went out to shoot our film opening. This includes the main locations of where the scenes are set and how they were changed from different locations.
Characters costumes
Character 1:
The suspect - She is an enemy who is going to be followed and spied on by two agents. She used to work with the agents until she turned bad. She is now working for the opposite side and planning something against the other team. One of her companions are going to meet her near the Victoria Memorial statue and hand her a letter explaining what she need to do next and where she need to be, the two agents are trying to stop her and get the letter so they can be one step ahead. She would be wearing dark colours for her costume to connote the dark side to her character also to represent a mysterious and evil side to her. The skirt and heels were chosen to illustrate that her character is smart and classy. |
Character 2:
Agent 11 - He is one of the top secret agents who will be spying on the suspect before she heads over to her next destination. He will be working with his partner Agent 5 who will be undercover and who will also be spying on the suspect. Agent 11 used to work with the suspect before she turned evil so he knows what she is capable of. He is determined to catch her as he is one of the top agents and he wants to keep it that way, also he has a bad history with the suspect which makes him eager to find her. He would be wearing a black suit and tie with a white shirt as this is a classical smart costume especially for the agent as he is not going to be undercover also he can blend in with the people around him as it is set in London and there are businessman around that area. |
Character 3:
Agent 5 - He is partners with Agent 11 and he will be another agent who is going to be following and spying on the suspect. He is going to undercover so he doesn't look suspicious and he will be following her every move. However he is a new agent and looses the spy as she walks down and away from the Victoria Memorial statue. This causes a dilemma as now the agents have to find the suspect again. We chose this costume for Agent 5 to highlight his role as he is meant to be undercover so we can't recognise him as an agent. We went for a really casual look so he could look like a regular guy sitting near the Victoria Memorial statue, he would be wearing; a hoody, jeans and trainers so the audience don't even know he is an agent until he starts following her. |
Character 4:
Companion - The audience don't know much about this character apart from he is delivering a something to the suspect. He will be speaking to the suspect and he would be handing over a letter which is confidential and would be telling the suspect where her next destination is and where to be heading over to. He would be wearing something casual so he can blend in with everyone else so he is not standing out from the crowd and looking luscious. We also tried to show a very casual and vulnerable side to the character as he doesn't know what he has gotten himself into. |
All the characters are wearing something different so they can blend in with the surrounding. We chose these costumes after going out to our setting/location to see what other people wear and we saw a variety of styles from very smart/class to extremely causal so we knew what our characters would have to wear to blend in well. As there was a diversity of clothes worn in the setting our characters wearing their costumes wouldn't stand out and this is what we were aiming for.

Setting/Location
We chose to set our film opening in Buckingham Palace as there is the Victoria Memorial statue there where the suspect would be standing, we chose this location as we knew it would be busy as it is filled with tourist. This would help disguise the characters as there would be so many people in the surrounding - this is exactly what we planned for so it wouldn't be obvious who is being spied on and who is spying on who. This location was also very good as it was also near as tube station which would be used in the later scene. We also wanted to use a statue as it would be a nice location prop.
|
We had originally chosen to set our film opening in Hyde
Park as we knew this park would be very busy location which is exactly what we
wanted however when we went there wasn't enough people at the park so disguising
the characters would work. Also when we got to the park there was a lot of
construction work going on which made the scene look messy as we tried to get a
pan of the location and an establishing shot so we decided to change the
location.
|
We had to find a new location as the first one didn't work out. As we went out to check our first location - the Victoria Memorial statue we saw a park near there. The park was perfect as is was a busy location as there was Buckingham Palace nearby also which is where the statue is and it is also near a station which we could use instead so we decided to use Green Park and Green Park Station.
|
Green Park Station was the station that we used overall in our film opening; this station is shown at the end scene where the suspect runs into. This particular station was chosen as the pathways shown in the previous picture is where it leads to so it was very convenient for us to film here also it was a busy station and it is in London.
|
Our locations changed a bit as we couldn't film where we originally planned to due to construction work at Hyde Park and the location not being as busy as we wanted it to. One location changed due to our idea as because at first we were going to film at Vauxhall S.I.S building but then we changed our idea for our film opening.

Props
This is the letter that is given from the companion to the suspect. The letter is extremely confidential and vital within the film opening as it is telling the suspect what her next destination is and what she has to do next. This letter creates a mysterious atmosphere to the film opening as the audience want to know what is inside the letter and why is it handed to the suspect. This also produces suspense as the audience want to find out what is going to happen with this letter. |
The suspect is carrying a little black clutch with her which has a few things she would need. She puts the letter she receives in the bag so it is safe. This prop is not that important as it is just a bag but stereotypically women carry some sort of purse on them so we decided to give our character a purse to keep the letter inside. |

Storyboard - Draft
This is the draft storyboard that I drew when we got our first idea. After drawing the draft storyboard we slightly changed our ideas as we weren't able to film where we originally planned. After we changed our idea I drew a final storyboard where we changed a few shots.
Storyboard - Final
This is the final storyboard and it shows step-by-step what we will be filming and the shots/angles that will be used.

Shot list
_These shots are examples of the original shots we had taken during our
film opening. The 1st one represents a mid-shot of Zabi's upper body,
the 2nd shot is a still image of the 360 degree shot we had used during
our filming, the 3rd shot was an over the shoulder view which we tried
to use but in the end did not need it, and the 4th shot was a fill body
image of Zabi to show his costume and represent what kind of character
he played.
